Artist Statement

I like to depict the tiny events of my daily life. From flowing black plastic bag to falling leaves. Focus on the details and try to remember them without camera help me observe this world. East Village was a short and tiny event I noticed when I went to East Village last month. The gay couple or probably friends were talking and didn't notice their shivering dog. A woman passed by and reminded them this poor little fellow. I was surprised by the care that given by a stranger. She neither didn't know the couple and the dog. However, she spoke to them and saved the little dog. Thought it was cold, the woman's behavior not only warmed that little dog but also heated this world.

Comment on The Abuse of Beauty

"The paintings are not to be admired because they are beautiful, but because their being so is internally connected with their reference and their mood. " Beauty is internal. The beauty is ingredient in the content of the work. Beauty is what we receive from the feeling we have toward the art work. Beauty is not as concrete as a beautiful landscape or elegant woman. I searched for Robert Motherwell's works. I also like Africa 1970.

Also their is another point interest me is that the author asked " Have we have a right to shoe suffering if that order in beautiful ways?" Though the composition and color of elegy to the spanish republic is beautiful, but under this painting, is the catastrophic event, immense sadness. It's a horrible historical event. It's so unforgettable that it's might be the one more injure for those who were related to that event. It's painful for them to see this representation of that disaster.

Starving Sudanese gives me the same feeling. The photo itself is beautiful or, specifically  , right on the target. But audience can only get the feeling and sense of the famine problem in Africa and unconsciously forget to admire this photo. The meaning behind has exceeded the beauty itself. We can directly see the impact of the event instead of the object of the art work.

Comment on Hedgehog in the Fog

Yuriy Norshteyn claimed his work as "Visual Memory".That's the reason why we can feel recalling or memorizing through looking at his animation. This animation reflects the place where he came from. The mood of this animation is subtle and mysterious. Only the white horse stood out. For me, this animation is like a diary of particular day of Hedgehog. It's a usual day that he is going to meet his friend. But it's unusual today. He was stocked by the fog and he found a beautiful white horse. He went into that fog, saw the huge tree, met a dog which returned his bag for him......etc. Only thing that Hedgehog remembered was that white horse. That horse was special and marked in his mind. Nevertheless he let this creature passed by his life. He didn't get it or even want to get it. It was just a interesting moment, event of daily life.

He is a cute baby but with adult soul. What is inside this baby's body is a criminal. He is smart but has bad temper. If he was found doing bad thing, he would enlarge his eyes which made other people forgive him or think that he was innocent. His mother is a kind woman and totally doesn't know who he really is. She always think that he is his cute and unsophisticated little boy.

JEDY
Jerry's bother. He is two years older than Jerry. He is so dumb and good at ruining Jerry's plane. He only makes things worse. Whenever Jerry wants he to do something, he always misunderstand and does the opposite thing.

Candies

He opened his eyes at 10:00 a.m., he felt so hungry. He wants the candy with Lime flavor. He hates the milk. "Jerry!" Said his mom, who was coming into the room holding the milk bottle. " Here comes the milk!" His mother walks to him. Jerry closed his eyes pretend he was sleeping as long as his mother stood by him. "Wake up Jerry! Time for the milk!" She said. But Jerry still closed his eyes. "Mm..." Jerry's mother left." Maybe I will come back later." Right after his mother closed the door. Jerry climbed out from the crib. The candies were on the top of the book shelf. Jerry looked around the bedroom. He found the box which could be the stairs. He crawled to the box and grabbed it. The ball bounced out from the box and woke the dog- Juju. While Jerry put the box in front of the book shelf and was ready to climb on it. Juju ran into the room. He carried the ball and blocked Jerry's way. "Go away! Juju!!" Said Jerry. He grabbed the ball and threw it out from the window. Juju jumped out from the window and crashed the glass. Jerry sighed and started to climb. Suddenly he heard his mother came up from the stairs. Meanwhile Juju jumped into the bedroom with the ball in his mouth. Listening his mother's sound getting closer and bigger and Watching Juju ran closer and closer, Jerry was thinking out what he was gonna do. Opened the door, what Jerry's mother saw was that Jerry sit on the floor. The crib was fallen and Juju was jumping and barking happily to Jerry. "Juju!!!!! Look at what you've done!!! You make the roon messy!!! Bad dog!!!!" Said Jerry's mom. She then put Jerry on the Sofa, which was closer to the candies. She took Jerry out of the room quickly. Looking at the candies, Jerry smiled. He climbed up the book shelf and he almost got it. "Jerry! What are you doing!" Said Jedy, Jerry's stupid brother. In his point of view, Jerry looked like wanted to climb out to the window. "You want to go outside? I can accompany with you!" Said Jedy. He gentlly carried Jerry on his arm and left the room. "No! No! No! Get away from me!" Said Jerry but unfortunately, he couldn’t speak. It looked like he was crying. "Don't cry Jerry. I will take you out of this narrow bedroom." Said Jedy. He looked like doted on Jerry. He probably didn’t notice the tears from Jerry's eyes. "My candies......" Said Jerry.
